
It takes money to win money. You bet big you win big. You can't win if you don't play. Where, in all of that, does it suggest that you
pay $100,000 for some tips on who to bet on?
But that's just what Philadelphia Flyers center Jeremy Roenick did.
Here's the problem. He apparently never bet on hockey. Sure he needed tips for what football team would win Sunday's game, or which runner would take the gold in the 400m, because he doesn't play those games. Think of all the money he'd have saved betting on hockey. Heck, he could probably have started dishing out the tips himself, and made a few bucks.
In any case, he has apparently done nothing illegal, so the news is primarily to explain that rich, athletic people make stupid decisions sometimes.
