After more than three hours of deliberation, a federal jury acquitted Katie Wolfmeyer on Monday night. Wolfmeyer is the 19-year-old woman accused of helping former St. Louis Blues center Mike Danton hire a hit man to kill his agent.
Yahoo! quotes Wolfmeyer as saying "I knew all along that I was innocent," and if anyone would have known, I guess it'd be her. There were stupid quotes all around, as one juror conceded Wolfmeyer is "not innocent by any means of everything she's done." Sure, but who is?
Danton pleaded guilty, as you recall, and will be sentenced next month.
Here's one of those funny-in-retrospect kind of things: "hockeyfan" writes that Danton "has a bright future, why did he have to ruin it?" And he was talking about Danton's demand to be traded. Ruining a bright future? "hockeyfan" hadn't seen nothing yet.
