This Day in Hockey History

If you've got a hankerin' for useless hockey trivia, let me recommend the This Day in Hockey History website. I believe they may literally have the largest compilation of useless hockey facts on the planet. Some examples from yesterday (the 28th):

October 28, 1978
Vaclav Nedomansky scored his first career hat trick and Al Cameron had three assists to lead the Red Wings to a 7-2 win against Chicago, at the Olympia.

October 28, 1971
Rookie Gilles Meloche, playing in just his third career NHL game, made 34 saves in a 2-0 Oakland Seals' win over Boston.

October 28, 1958
Chicago's Bobby Hull scored twice and added two assists in the Black Hawks' 5-5 tie with the visiting Montreal Canadiens.

Are these particularly notable events? Granted, I’m no hockey historian, but I've never heard of Vaclav Nedomansky, Al Cameron or Gille Meloche.

[Editor's note: Vaclav!]
