In a
Detroit Free Press article on Wednesday, Helene St. James wrote:
Now the true cost of the NHL lockout is showing itself: Even the manliest of men are morphing into new roles.
When Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman isn't skating, or in his basement working out in his gym, he is dropping off his three daughters at school and picking them up again, and then taking them to various activities.
Yzerman, in other words, is becoming a soccer mom.
"I'm fighting it, but yeah, I think I am," Yzerman said Tuesday.
Apart from this gender-bending admission, the article contains information about the upcoming Igor Larionov farewell game to be played December 13 in Moscow, and broadcast by Comcast. The game will pit a "world" all-star team against an all-Russian all-star team to celebrate Larionov's remarkable four decades in hockey.
As what ought to be a a side note but constitutes the central thrust of the Free press writeup, the Larionov tribute game will mark Yzerman's debut in his new visor. It's funny that the Freep would use a celebration of Larionov's career as an occasion to discuss Stevie's new protective gear, but Detroit is still Yzerman's town.
And in the city it's a pity 'cause he just can't hide. His tinted visor don't mean nothin', we know who's inside.
