So,
Team Canada whupped up on Russia in the
World Juniors gold medal game on Tuesday, as if you hadn't heard.
On the possibility of his returning to the team next year, winning coach
Brent Sutter gushed enthusiastically: "I don't know ... it's a lot of work. There's a big commitment that you have to make towards it. ... You really have to be committed to it. I just need some time to sit back. All I know is there's some great coaches in this country that can do it."
Obsessive and ultra-wealthy fans take note: Team Canada is auctioning off its game-used jerseys, gloves, helemets and other bits of
sweat-caked gear on eBay. Auctions don't end until Saturday, but a game-used Crosby jersey will already set you back $13,900 Canadian.
Speaking of World Juniors gear, remember Team USA's
goalie helmet design contest? The sponsor, Itech, has a
online gallery of the winners' and finalists' entries, as well as those of the Canadian contest. Note that two of the under-eleven finalists (James Tuccori and Nicholas Weis) included charming crayon renderings of the World Trade Center in their designs, while
not one featured the Maine, the Alamo, the Lusitania, or Pearl Harbor. I blame the parents.
