STREET HOCKEY PROTEST IN EAST VANCOUVER: Several hundred people came out for a street hockey game that shut down a block of Commercial Drive. The game was staged as a protest over plans to widen the Trans-Canada Highway.

SWEDEN SUSPENDS LILJA, HUSELIUS AND TALLINDER: Three NHLers were suspended by Sweden's ice hockey federation over "an incident" early last Wednesday. Among them is Andreas Lilja, who was last in the news when his former teammate Peter Worrell tried to use Lilja's name to pull a "Spartacus." Details are sketchy, but whatever they did, police don't have enough evidence to bring charges. Linkoping club director Mike Helber said only that "what has happened is really, really bad."

Oh, and there was a minor development in the NHL lockout.
