Barry Melrose says
the NHL's new rules and the resulting style of play are partly responsible for the groin injury pandemic that seems to be plaguing the league. The American Family Physician reports that injuries to this restricted area
"comprise 2 to 5 percent of all sports injuries," but a whopping 24% of all the players on Yahoo!'s (notoriously incomplete and not up-to-date)
list of injured NHLers are there for groin owies.
Astute zodiac watchers will note that we are just three days from the zodiacal period ruled by the scorpion, the sign that
dominates this sensitive anatomical region. Should superstitious NHLers expect their crotches to feel better during this period, or worse?
