I'm a sucker for a big-screen sports biopic, and I expect to have an excellent time watching
The Rocket. Will this Canadian film open big enough for me to see it early? The ads claim it'll be "in theatres everywhere" next week, but maybe with Canadian movie promos you're supposed to infer the qualifier: "in Canada."
You know, like how you always add "in bed" to your fortune cookie fortunes. It's just something everyone knows to do.
Anyway, if it opens anywhere south of the border, it'll have to play New York City. This Roy Dupuis, he looks a little like Richard, doesn't he? He
played the Rocket before, in a 1999 TV series.
The Rocket also features a bunch of present-day NHLers as Hall-of-Fame legends, including Vincent Lecavalier as Jean Beliveau and Mike Ricci as Elmer Lach — who was not exactly Tigerbeat material, but come on, Mike Ricci?
You know what? Actually, I can kind of see it. I hope I can say the same about this movie later in the month.
